Eating healthy is an ongoing struggle with a lot of people. Here are some simple tips to establish some healthy eating habits.
)Start a food diary – Keeping track of what you are eating makes you more aware of your choices and how they play into your emotions at the time.
)Begin the day with breakfast – A good breakfast will sustain you for the rest of your day, and makes you eat less throughout the day as well.
)Get moving – Do thirty minutes of some type of physical activity every day, even something as simple as walking.
)Eat more protein – Protein makes you feel full longer, reduces cravings you might have, and increases any calories you may burn during the day.
)Eat less sugar – Cut your sugar intake down to less than 250 calories a day to stay in a healthy range.
)Moderate alcohol – Alcohol provides no nutrition and can make you hungrier afterwards. Stick to one glass of beer or wine only.
)Cut out liquid calories – Sodas, coffee, fruit juices, and energy drinks add no nutrition to your diet. Drink water instead. It has no calories and can increase your metabolism.
)Eat smart snacks – Try to snack from multiple food groups. Try a stick of cheese, an apple, a graham cracker, celery sticks with peanut butter, or almonds.
)Don’t eat too much of one thing – Balance your food choices, if you have to have a burger, eat one. Just don’t eat one every day.
10) Eat more grains, fruits, and vegetables – These foods give you more energy, vitamins, and minerals that you need on a daily basis. And if you pick the right ones, they don’t add to your calorie intake.
